My Family' Book Launch

Produced by the Pastoral Area Team and written by the very talented students in P4-P7 from St Patrick’s Primary School, Ballygalget, St Mary’s Primary School, Kircubbin, Portaferry Integrated Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School, Portaferry.

When? Sunday 19th August from 2-4pm

Where? St Patrick’s Community Centre, Portaferry.

Everyone is welcome to come along to celebrate and enjoy light refreshments. Books will be available for purchase during the launch.

The World Meeting of Families Launch will take place in our Pastoral Community in St. Colmcille’s Holywood on the 21st August 2018 at 7.30pm. Everyone is very welcome, come along and join all our parish families as we gather to celebrate and pray for God’s blessing on Pope Francis and all family life. Refreshments will be served after the celebration.

Global Conflict: The Human Impact

We are delighted to invite you to a major international conference on the theme of Global Conflict: the Human Impact, running from 22-24 August 2018, and hosted at Queen’s University Belfast.

The conference, convened by Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Chicago, will be addressed by a range of distinguished speakers who will share their expertise on the Northern Ireland peace process, the peace process in Colombia, and the international refugee crisis, among other themes.

Confirmed speakers include United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi; former US Senator George J. Mitchell; former US Assistant Secretary of State Anne C. Richard; Dominic MacSorley, CEO of Concern Worldwide; and James Robinson, Reverend Dr. Richard L. Pearson Professor of Global Conflict Studies, and Institute Director, The Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts, The University of Chicago.

Join us at Saint Peters Cathedral as All Lives Are Precious and their cross-community celebration of Love Life and Happiness visits Saint Peter’s on Friday, 14th September 2018 @ 7:30pm,as we for the first time, invite our communities to mark World Suicide Prevention Day with us.

Headlining this event will be the spectacular Peter Corry and very special guests The Priests. In addition we are pleased to announce that present also on the night will be the Saint Peter’s Schola Cantorum, Saint Peter’s Community Choir, Down and Connor Folk Choir and an ensemble choir of children and young people from local primary schools and youth clubs.

Healthcare Pastoral visitors' course 2018:

The next course run by the NI Healthcare Chaplains' Association (NIHCA) and Edgehill College will run for 9 weeks beginning Thurs 27th September 2018 from 7.30 - 9.30pm at Edgehill College, Belfast. The course is aimed at lay people who are interested in healthcare pastoral visitation, either within the local church context or within a chaplaincy context, or who already visit healthcare facilities such as hospitals, hospices or residential/nursing homes as part of their church responsibilities.

Cost is £75, which includes materials and refreshments each night.
